Friday Night Lights

We went to Aledo (Texas) High School's homecoming football game. What
a blast!

Aledo beat rival Azle 42-0.

Denver Capitol building

200 ounces of 24ct. gold on the dome.

Denver

Today is Denver, Colorado. It's very autumn-like weather...cool in the
shade, pleasant in the sun. I'm strolling downtown with my Nikon and
some B&W film.

Seattle in the summer

What a great city. It was 70 degrees and sunny, and I had dinner on
the pier. By the way, it was 107 degrees at home in Texas.

The lineup at La Guardia

This was the takeoff line today in New York. Must be summer...

High-flyer

I was at 40,000 ft and saw this Learjet as I looked UP. What a jet...I
liked flying this type for the year I did it.

Lower Manhattan

It was another great day to see Manhattan as I flew north up the
Hudson...

Manhattan this afternoon

Looked beautiful as I flew up the Hudson River at 3000 ft.

Flying the weather

The cockpit view as we deviated our flightpath around a supercell
thunderstorm over Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Body surfing in Ponte Vedra Beach

Sam's new friend

Samantha has an illogical fear of dogs, but Bailey changed that. She
found a new friend.

Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach pier

Cocoa Beach shark tank

This was a five thousand gallon saltwater tank filled with exotic
fish, including black tip sharks and a moray eel.

Cousins

Visiting cousins in Tampa from summer vacation.

The Box

My sim partner was Steve, from our LA base. He actually lives half a
mile from my home during high school, in Escondido. Small world.

Back in the box

Yep...simulator time again. I used to think it was fun. Now, I just
think of the impending work.

Retro-jet

My favorite 737 is, of course, our retro-painted Astrojet, circa 1963.
I flew it from Moami to Atlanta.

Fading light.

The thunderheads start to dissipate their energy as night falls in the
big sky, overhead Kansas City.

New toy

It's a 1971-vintage Olympus 35DC rangefinder, with an extremely sharp
and fast Zuiko 40mm f1.7 lens. The world forges forward into the
digital realm, and I slip backwards.

Remember our troops

This was Bushnell Park, Hartford Conn.

Heavenly light

Atlanta Marriott

It's got a huge indoor atrium. I'm on the 26th floor...scary for me.

The ride home

The girls help Mom

We went with Dawnne on her Charlotte layover. Here, the girls are
helping Dawnne in the aisle.

First trip of the summer

On our way to Charlotte, NC to visit friends.

Rain tonight

It poured here in Ft. Lauderdale tonight, but it was strangely soothing.

Home tomorrow!

Friday, May 23, 2008

My new Mustang

It's a Roush 427R. We call it "Big Jack."

The view off my balcony

Fort Lauderdale Layover

It's tough work, but someone's got to do it. That's Hank, the captain,
sidled up to the tiki bar.

Miami out the cockpit window

During takeoff I snapped this picture. It sure is beautiful--from the
air, anyway.

Friday night lights

Skylar's softball team plays under the lights in Aledo. Her team, the
Titans, won 15-9.

Thumper has arrived!

With the assistance of a benefactor (Grandpa Warren), the girls are
enjoying their time on the new lawn tractor. It even has cruise control!

Dawn patrol

Morning flying usually is so calm...it ALMOST makes up for the fact
that I awoke at 3AM!

The road home

This is little F.M. 5, the road to the house. Any day now, the leaves
will be blooming. I leave all my stress on the freeway as I drive home
after a trip...as it should be.
